Truly Judy’s Uncommon Oldies – The Liverpool Set – “Oh Gee Girl”

This week’s edition of “Uncommon Oldies” takes us to radio station WOKY 920 AM, March 1966, in Milwaukee, Wisconsin.

The Liverpool Set’s name showed that they were obviously influenced by the Great Britain Merseybeat sound.  One of the members was from Newark, England, but the others were from Toronto, Canada.  Their first single took them into the Canadian Top 20.

One of the members of The Liverpool Set was previously in The Mynah Birds.  Another member would go on to be in the Townsmen after leaving this band.

“Oh Gee Girl” hit #35 on the WOKY survey in March of 1966.
